Traditional fugitive dust solutions are very expensive. Installation of a baghouse or a dust collection system typically requires major plant modifications; operation costs are high with associated disposal and service costs. Low pressure water spray system are a less expensive alternative but consume excessive amounts of water and wet the process material effectively solving one problem but creating another. Chemical additive systems can only be used when alteration of the process material characteristics is not a problem, however chemical consumption costs often make the operation of the system unreasonable.

The Piian Mega Fog System has been specifically developed to suppress dust inside large buildings. Operating at 1000PSI and producing 10 micron sized droplets, the system atomizes ordinary water using anywhere from 10 to 10,000 highly specialized low flow nozzles. The system installed to envelop the entire environment of a large building with molecular sized water droplets without any wetting, dripping or waste. Each system is custom designed and manufactured using the highest quality industrial rated components then installed according to the unique requirements of each dust control site.

Mega Fog System Advantages

A Unique System with Low Installation & Operating Costs

The system is only moderately more expensive than a standard spray system. It easily installs on any piece of equipment without major plant modifications. The system does not wet the processed material therefore eliminating clogging/screening problems. No chemical additives are used. A large system uses a 10 HP or less electric motor. Typical maintenance includes water filter changes and oil changes only; no dust is collected by the system eliminating filter media changes and disposal problems.

Recycling Dust Suppression

The picture to the right shows garbage being tipped and unloading into a pit, the fog system suppresses all dust created during this process. The blue/gray plume at the bottom of the picture is water. Only 2.0 GPM of ordinary water is required to suppress all dust without creating any wetting or clogging problems.

Before Fog System Treatment

Very fine dust particles (PM<10) cause serious health and pollution problems. Many government agencies have now mandated that PM<10 dust emissions are controlled to within reasonable limits. In the picture to the left, the gray plume present in the air within the building structure is very fine dust that if left uncontrolled will be inhaled by factory personnel and will travel easily into surrounding areas.

After Fog System Treatment

The fog droplets produced by a Piian Mega fog system are approximately equal in size to PM<10 dust particles. A natural static attraction bonds the fog droplet to the PM<10 dust particle. This causes an increase in the dust particles weight that results in the heavier dust particle settling to the ground, or returning to the process material. In the picture to the left, a large proportion of the PM<10 dust particles have been removed from the environment by use of the Mega fog system. This is obvious by the substantial increase in visibility within the building structure.
 
The system consists of a “high pressure pump module package” and atomization nozzles which are installed into hydraulic hoses or tubes to form an “atomization line”. An ordinary water supply feeds into the high pressure pump module where it is pressurized to 1000PSI / 70BAR and pumped along hydraulic manifold hose and is finally released into the air through tiny highly specialized low flow atomization nozzles.
The released fluid forms a super fine “fog” of 10 micron sized droplets that is suspended in the air. The fog produced by the system is so fine it completely evaporates in the air without any wetting or dripping. The system acts to raise the humidity level inside the building environment, the dry fugitive dust present in the environment absorbs the moisture provided by the fog system causing it to increase in weight and therefore settle back to the process material or the ground.

Equipment costs are extremely low compared to other dust control alternatives.

Energy costs are low; a 10 HP system will drive 500 Nozzles. Compared to compressed air atomization system, a Piian Mega Fog System uses 90% less energy.

Installations are fast and simple with the majority of fabrication completed at our factory, no special installation tools are required, 2 men can install a small system in a day.

Unattended operation, the pump module may be controlled by an optional humidistat which will maintain an exact amount of moisture in the environment at all times.
